Heckmondwike’s Supacord carpet tiles have been used to create a series of attractive and highly practical floorcoverings for a newly refurbished academy in Northampton. Malcolm Arnold Academy features a number of large open-plan spaces, and a wide range of Supacord colours were used to define different sections of these spaces according to their intended purpose.
“The brief for this project called for a carpet that was durable enough to withstand high volumes of foot traffic and survive in a demanding environment, but without losing its appearance,” comments Heckmondwike Area Manager, David Stephens. “The Supacord range was the perfect solution to this requirement.”
As the experts in carpets for education, Heckmondwike has supplied its Supacord carpet to many hundreds of school and college projects over recent years. “Supacord’s tough, fibre bonded construction has been proven to deliver thoroughly reliable performance and people know that they can specify it with complete confidence, especially for this type of project,” adds David.
This rugged construction also enables Supacord carpet to be cut on site, so that individual flooring designs can be created without any risk of the carpet fraying or unravelling. Together with the recently expanded range of Supacord colours this brought some particular advantages to Malcolm Arnold Academy.
“The range provided plenty of scope to create different looks for different parts of the academy,” says Contracts Manager Carl Harper who managed the project. “Various colours and designs were also used to separate adjacent spaces from a visual point of view, such as a seating area next to a high-traffic walkway. This helped to define the purpose of the various spaces within the school and create a variety of interior environments.”
With choices of 2m and 4m wide carpets, as well as a carpet tile option, Heckmondwike’s Supacord range is equally well suited to other types of application, including retail, office and accommodation projects.
A new Supacord sample card has recently been produced to help architects, designers and contractors in the specification process.
