Cistermiser, the UK’s leading provider of commercial washroom water management solutions, is delighted to announce that its EasyflushEVO revolutionary, flushing valve has been awarded the prestigious Water Saving Commercial Product of the Year award at the Energy Savings Awards 2022.  This latest win follows hot off the heels of the EasyflushEVO victory at the Bathroom Manufacturers’ Association Sustainability Awards, where it won the Water Efficiency category 2022.

“We all know as an industry how much water is wasted through leaking toilets. According to experts Waterwise, a leaking toilet wastes between 215 and 400 litres of clean drinking water on average every day. Between 5 and 8% of toilets are estimated to be leaking, adding up to around 400 million litres of water leaking from UK toilets every day. Against a backdrop of the climate crisis and the Road to Net Zero, losses like these are clearly unsustainable.

“The EasyflushEVO is our latest addition to the Cistermiser product portfolio, and its revolutionary flushing valve solves the problem of leaking toilet cisterns and saves up to 78,475 litres of water per unit per year. It achieves this by bringing together the previously unattainable benefits of non-touch and leak-free flushing. The patented flush design means there is no flushing seal below the waterline, so unlike traditional flush valves, it will not leak due to debris, scale, or seal degradation.

Scoring a hat trick during this winter awards season, Cistermiser’s Sensazone has also made it to the shortlist of the Tomorrow’s FM Awards. Voting starts this month and we’re hoping Sensazone, an intelligent leak prevention system for commercial washrooms, will join EasyflushEVO in the water management sustainability hall of fame.

Cistermiser, the UK’s leading provider of commercial washroom water management solutions, is delighted to announce their win at the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) Sustainability Awards 2022 where EasyflushEVO won the Water Efficiency category, Judges praised EasyflushEVO for its “new and novel approach” to tackling water loss and eradicating the #leakyloo issue.

Wonderful Washrooms at Walthamstow Wetlands

Walthamstow (5)Walthamstow Wetlands is the capital’s newest and largest urban wetland nature reserve and encompasses 10 large reservoirs, which deliver water to 3.5 million Thames Water customers and increases public access to nature in an area of London deficient in open space. As part of the scheme Architects Witherford Watson Mann designed a visitor centre within a decommissioned Victorian pumping station, to house a café and shop plus exhibition, learning and events spaces. Since the buildings and landscape were already distinctive, they were treated with a light touch. What capacity they had has been adapted for economical and flexible operation, helping to build the long term sustainability of this significant new community resource for East London.  The sturdy brick pumphouse was gently repaired, with new steel gantries threaded through, to connect the rooms and offer views over this landscape of water, woods and marshland.

Walthamstow Wetlands public toilets for Relcross

When it came to the washrooms they wanted to continue with the use of raw steel and an online search brought them to Devizes based Relcross and an earlier project of theirs featuring Hadrian steel toilet cubicles at the Oaks Restaurant in Nottingham. While available to match almost any RAL colour, Hadrian Steel cubicles can be supplied in a plain galvanneal finish for a natural, industrial look. At Walthamstow they have been combined with Staffordshire blue quarry tiles to the floor and Staffordshire red quarry tiles to the walls for an overall effect that evokes the functional industrial design of the original engine house but with immense practicality for public washrooms at a very popular new facility.

Walthamstow Wetlands public toilets for Relcross

The doors and walls of the cubicles are steel faced with a honeycomb core for amazing strength but lightness – so there’s no institutional sounding ‘clang’ when the doors are closed.  The lightness means they require no special structural provisions to effect a rigid installation on any type of floor. Importantly, they are easy to clean and maintain and are very dent resistant. All corners of the cubicles are mitred, welded and ground for superior strength. Privacy is ensured by the use of continuous stop and hinge sight line fillers together with a minimal 150mm gap from the floor to the underside of the door and panels.

Due to their steel construction, Hadrian toilet partitions are fire-resistant and will not give off toxic smoke if exposed to heat or flame. On top of all that they also have excellent green credentials as Hadrian’s products feature a high recycled content.

One of the four cubicles in the Ladies is enlarged and features an outward opening door to allow room for the provision of baby changing facilities. One of the two cubicles in the Gents is similarly equipped.

Minimalism

The new sanitary system follows the principles of classic HEWI design: The style of System 815 is based on basic geometrical shapes. Despite the minimalistic use of materials, System 815 has a convincingly high-quality, fine look and feel. The clear, discrete design is highlighted by curved steel elements. Functional accessories for the washbasin, toilet and shower are available. The rail with shower head holder and shower basket complement the product range and enable new design options. The practical shower basket provides space for bathroom utensils within reach.

Material options

The sanitary System 815 is available not only with chrome, high-gloss finish but also as a Bicolor variant. The circular fixing elements in the Bicolor version are made of high-quality, white synthetic material, and are combined with elements made of curved steel. The inserts, for example, soap dispensers or tumblers, are optionally available made of white synthetic material or satin finish crystal glass.

Convenience products

The System 815 sanitary accessories can be combined with comfort and convenience elements, such as a stool, hinged support rail or wheelchair accessible washbasin. A support rail also complements the accessible elements, so that the highest standards of safety and comfort are fulfilled in the bathroom.
