SUSURRO MAKES IMPROVING INDOOR AIR QUALITY A BREEZE

The new Susurro, a ceiling mounted heat recovery unit from Airflow Developments, has been designed to provide continuous decentralised ventilation for both office and educational environments. Featuring a new generation of efficient, energy saving and ultra-quiet technologies, architects can be assured that the units meet all the necessary regulations, and provide a fresh and healthy indoor air quality for the occupants.

Susurro in a seminar roomA multitude of key features makes Susurro a high performance ventilation option for new and existing offices and school buildings. With an aluminium cross counter flow heat exchanger, the unit recovers up to 90% of otherwise wasted heat. In accordance with the ErP Ecodesign Directive, Susurro features a 100% summer bypass facility to prevent heat recovery from taking place in hot weather – reducing the risk of overheating.

Its unique capillary tube system at the air outlet ensures that fresh air is supplied into the room near the ceiling. This supply air then mixes with the ambient air, before slowly descending into the room, avoiding any uncomfortable draughts for building occupants.

1_0010_Background copySusurro is the ideal option for office and educational environments, helping to improve air quality and with a virtually inaudible noise level of just 35 dB(A) at nominal air flow, the units can contribute positively to an environment that aids concentration and productivity. All Susurro units comply to both BB101 and BB93 guidelines for educational premises.

For existing buildings, there is no need to design a detailed ventilation system, as it is simply mounted on the wall. With a digital touch screen controller and offering automated control to optimise performance – Susurro maximises energy efficiency and minimises heat losses with minimal input from the building manager.

Susurro is available with a three-year warranty, and energy efficient EC motors. The unit is available in two ranges: standard and design. With air flow rates of 400, 700 and 1000 m3/h, units will provide an ambient temperature range of +5°C up to 40°C.

Ideal for high-end housebuilders and property developers, these Passive House certified units are equipped with the latest smart technology that allows air flow settings to be controlled within the home or remotely by PC, Tablet or Smart phone.

Leading ventilation manufacturer Airflow Developments has launched its Internet capable Adroit MVHR range for the domestic market. Utilising mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR), the systems recover valuable heat that would typically be lost as part of the ventilation process from wet rooms and use this energy to pre-warm clean, fresh air that is constantly brought in from outside and circulated within the home.

Crucially, the units are equipped with the latest interactive smart technology that provides homeowners with real-time monitoring and control of indoor air environments – at home or on the move. Once registered to the Adroit Cloud Service, the air flow settings of the unit can be controlled via a computer or mobile device. Moreover, the unit is also able to connect into house automation through the Modbus, or be controlled via a fixed controller.

Easy to use and with an intuitive colour display, the control panel is a responsive, portable interface, which provides a step-by-step guide on how to successfully manage the ventilation unit. Designed with four different profiles to choose from – Home, Away, Boost or Fireplace function, users are able to programme the units according to their personal routines and preferences. For example, setting ventilation to ‘Away’ during workdays will avoid unnecessary air filtration into the premises and therefore reduce energy costs and wastage.4adroit

For those wanting to offer additional benefits to potential homebuyers, there is also the option to install two external switches. For example, one switch can be set to ‘Boost’ profile within a kitchen or bathroom to accommodate for fluctuating indoor atmospheres, and another can be programmed to alternate between ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ profiles. Cooker hood boosting is also possible when a compatible recirculating cooker hood is in place.

Complementing its existing range of “ecoair” ventilation solutions, Airflow introduces the new LOOVENT eco fan.

A completely new re-design of the million selling Loovent, the fan features exceptionally quiet, two speed intermittent extraction up to 31 l/sec, or, at the flick of a switch during installation, a choice of five speed, continuous (dMEV) ventilation.
Versatile for portrait and landscape orientation, either recessed or surface mounted, the compact design represents the smallest footprint in its class.

Operating from just 2.8 watts it is economical to run and with a specific fan power of just 0.21 w/l/sec on low speed (0.41 w/l/sec on high speed), it is significantly less than the 0.5 w/l/sec for intermittent flow required by the 2010 Building Regulations.
A low energy, ball bearing, DC motor ensures long term reliability with minimal maintenance making it ideal for Social Housing applications where asset pay back is a priority.

From just 25 d(B)A it is also extremely quiet in operation and perfect for both through the wall and ducted installations. Designed with the same mounting chassis as previous Loovent models the replacement of older versions is quick and easy.

LOOVENT eco dMEV models are designed to meet the requirements of SAP Appendix Q, and feature continuous ventilation operation. At the time of installation, a constant flow of either 7 l/sec for toilets, 9 l/sec suitable for en-suites, bathrooms and utilities or 16 l/sec, suitable for kitchens, may be set to meet a whole house decentralised continuous ventilation strategy (d-MEV) for dwellings with a low air infiltration rate. An “On -Demand” boost speed enables rapid ventilation when required.
